This system is designed to keep the establishments and lands of the Empire safe from violations and criminal element against the Imperial Laws.
Those that whish to be apart of the Law Enforcement system will be known as the Royal Guard. Royal Guards are appointed to serve and protect the citizens of the Empire and service any needs that may arise. They have the power to take anyone into custody upon witnessing a crime, as well as having the power to hunt down and capture acriminal if they have a warrant for the criminal's arrest.
Royal Guards are to protect the Sovereign and act as bodyguards when called upon. They are expected to keep the peace through out the realm and to apprehend criminals as warrants are issued.
Warrants may only be issued by the Knight Protector, by the authority of the Sovereign, and may be done after such solid evidence [logs or emails] has been received.. and has been fully examined.
Fines:
Hopefully none of you will have to run into these situations but here's the bad news on what you'll get if you do something prohibited by Imperial Law.
1. Doctoring Logs:
You get exiled from the Empire, and have your SN and crimes sent out to all other well reknowned forums so that you'll have to rethink you'reways and maybe start a new "real" character.
2. Performing an AA without a Contract:
You get -5 sides knocked off of your registered equipment and your REG# taken away. You will have to be trained and re-certified until you canget your REG# back.
3. Exploiting Fake Dice:
You get exiled from the Empire. You know if you've earned your dice or not. If you don't have the proof, you certainly don't have the dice in the GOTHIC Empire.[Computer crashes are no excuses, that's why there are external disks you can save your stuff on.]
4. Misusing Forum Equipment:
The thing that get's on our nerves is when people go around striking people in unorganized/un-proctored matches. Fighting this way is a total waste of time and puts a bad name on the person and the forum they are registered in. Unless you're a group of friends it's no problem. But it's very different when you attack someone you hate or don't know. If someone reports you with "proof by log" be prepared to get -5 sides taken from your registered equipment.
5. Not accepting an AA:
Obviously you haven't read the rules of the forum AT ALL. Your punishment will be decided by the person who had the contract to"AA,FC,etc" you.
6. Running from an AA without rolling perception:
You'll get the humiliation you're asking for! Hey, you might as well kill yourself because once you run. The hunt is on. We don't tolerate cowards. Your punishment will be made by whomever you ran from.
7. You've been killed but are to stubborn to admit it:
You're SN will be posted in as many forums as possible. Each Forum President will receive proof of you're death and be persuaded to put your name in their charter as "The Dead Who Won't Die" or "The Black Listed". You can consider yourself immediately out of the GOTHIC Empire.
8. Crossing Characters:
Come on! Get the hell out if you're going to do this crap. I want all of you to practice good RPing. Don't even stray near these grounds. If you do then you'll just be ignored and exiled out of the Empire sincewe associate this type of behavior with "moders".
9. Disgracing the Empire:
There are many ways of disgracing the Empire. Any convictions made against you will of course be held in the courts of the GOTHIC Empire. You will get a fair trial and hearing to determine if your acts were harmful to the Empires reputation or if you are being misjudged, etc. The Council will determine punishment.
10. Enslaving Superior HC Members:
Results in immediate execution. Any member found collaring a member of the Imperial High Council will be killed without mercy. Do it at your own risk! High Council members are all listed on the government officials page. Only exception to this rule, would be if it was authorized by said HC member.. and a copy of said authorization would be required as proof.
11. Talking about Equipment IC:
We look down upon the discussion of experience points and dice whileIn-Character so please refrain from doing so and practice your best RP skills. Remember your characters do not know what they are.
12. Lewd Acts Towards Children:
NO sexual acts, beatings, rapes, murders, and domestic abuse.
Any of the acts listed above, known or unknown, is immediate execution.
Exiled Law:
Once exiled from any of the Imperial territories, your character can be AAed, KAed, or WAed by any other forum members.
All Imperial Laws will be applied to anyone that attempts an AA, KA,or WA on a exiled member. This means that although a character has the right to attempt an AA, KA, or WA on a exiled member, the Sovereign may not pursue an IC punishment.
However, a contract can still be handed out by the Sovereign, allowing the exiled character a chance to defend themselves from their enemies as required by Forum Laws.
In most cases your exiled character has been found guilty of a crime. Said character is urged to continue playing within the Empire.
In-Character vs. Out-of-Character:
Muns, please keep in mind that exile is meant for IC purpose only, and should never be taken OOC for any reason. Also understand that your character has been declared a wanted criminal to be hunted and killed on sight. In most cases, however, this law does not mean your mun is banished from the GOTHIC Forum as well. A good role-player will deal with the actions of his/her character and the results by remaining within the GOTHIC Forum and playing their storyline out.
Bounty Laws:
Bounties may be placed on a criminal's head that has a warrant already issued.
Any member of the Empire that has fallen victim to a crime may place a bounty on the criminal or have someone place a bounty on the criminal by sending the proof of the crime to the Knight Protector.
To do this the member must provide any Bounty Hunter a pricey amountof gold to capture the criminal as fast as they can. This may be done publicly for all to see or privately one on one with a Bounty Hunter.
Warrant Laws:
Warrants, allow Royal Guards and Bounty Hunters to apprehend criminals and bring them to justice.
A criminal cannot be apprehended unless a warrant is issued or the Royal Guards witness the crime in action.
Capturing a Criminal:
A criminal cannot be apprehended unless a warrant has been issued, allowing Bounty Hunter the chance to go pursue and capture the criminal, or if the Royal Guards witness the crime in action.
Make sure you have a log running, to record the attempted capture of the criminal in order to prove that you actually saw and apprehended him/her.
Corner the suspect in a public or private and announce the arrest.
You are out to get your man peacefully, not the hard way. The criminal then has two options, to either come along peacefully or flee.
If the criminal chooses to come along peacefully, then you must read them their the following rights:
"You have the right to remain silent; anything you say can and will be used in GOTHIC Forum High Court. You have the right to an attorney to represent you in court. You have the right to humanistic treatment until brought before the court."
Then binds their hands, and takes them to the castle dungeon.
If the criminal chooses to flee, then you must attempt to apprehendthem forcefully. A person being arrested or detained can not just "runout" if they do so then an automatic AA contract will be issued for them.
The Royal Guard or Bounty Hunter must state their intention to apprehend the criminal by stating OOC for the criminal to state their name, guild, and dice.
Example::
Fire BlackHeart: [ Target has refused to come along peacefully. Target, please state your character's name, guild, and dice. ] SouIs of Onyx: [ Draven Drandon - TDEE - 4d95 ]
Then the Royal Guard or Bounty Hunter announces OOC their name, guild, dice, date and time, and time zone.
Example::
Fire BlackHeart: [ AngelFire BlackHeart - DM - 4d97 - 11/24/06 @ 8:45pm EST ]
A capture spar is held to 15 hit points with the stated dice. The Royal Guard or Bounty Hunter automatically begins the attempt because he/she is expecting to fight.
Example::
Fire BlackHeart: ::Leaps upon Draven and slashes with his sword to bring him down::
If the criminal wins the spar, they escape to live free another day. No other attempts can be made by that Bounty Hunter/Royal Guard to capture the criminal for 24 hours. The criminal suffers a loss of five dice sides during the next attempted arrest, due to tiring from being on the run.
If the criminal loses, then they are read their rights, bound, and taken to the dungeon. The charge of resisting arrest is also added in addition to the criminal's charges.
